At the request of County Council, the DCWC has, over the past 20 years, studied many facets of life here in the county. County Council has taken advantage of this research, and used the recommendations of the Commission to improve life for all our residents, by streamlining procedures, correcting oversights in the legal system, and offering possible methods to expand upon County services as they strive to meet the needs of the people. These reports have been included in this website in .pdf format for reference, so we can examine where we’ve been, and see the changes that have resulted from the efforts of the Commission.

The DCWC has offered a variety of community education forums, such as the Corporate Women’s Conference, Women’s Leadership Breakfasts, Dependent Care Forums, and workshops on Conducting Business with Government Agencies. The Commission has established various task forces and collaborative initiatives with community organizations as it addressed issues impacting women and girls. While the mission of the DCWC is to study the needs of women and girls in Delaware County, and make recommendations to County Council on how these needs can be better addressed, its work has had a ripple effect beyond the public sector, and at times attracting state-wide, and even national attention.
