The Central Purchasing Department under the direction of George Troilo, is the county's contracting office for the acquisition of all supplies and services and conference room scheduling under regular or emergency circumstances as required for County Government.
It is a service department and serves as a resource for all county departments in the purchase of their needs. The department is staffed by knowledgeable individuals whose primary purpose is to provide needed products and services in an efficient, effective and economical manner, consistent with the best interest of county government and taxpayers.
The Central Purchasing Department is a member of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Counties Cooperative Joint Purchasing Board and the Delaware Valley Chapter-Southeastern Pennsylvania, National Institute of Governmental Purchasing. It also participates as requested in seminars, fairs, discussion groups etc., with the Delaware County Commerce Department, Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, Delaware County Office of Employment and Training as well as others.
An "open door" policy between and among Central Purchasing, county departments and vendors, encourages dialogue and enables purchasing to maintain the "pulse" of the market place as it relates to product and price.
