Technical Support & Coordination
The Transportation Planning section develops and participates in plans to improve the mobility of people and goods in Delaware County. Staff monitor conditions of the transportation network and recommend improvements.
Primary areas of concern are highways, public transit, bicycling, walking, rail freight, and Philadelphia International Airport. Following are further descriptions of these areas.
The Planning Department works with municipal governments, PennDOT, SEPTA, the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC), the Delaware County Transportation Management Association (DCTMA), adjacent counties, and citizen/community groups. Delaware County is a member of the Boards of DVRPC, SEPTA, and the TMA and provides funding for the three agencies. The Planning Department represents the County on several of their committees.
