Pedestrian Master Plans

Delaware County Planning is committed to assisting municipalities develop and implement pedestrian-friendly projects.

Pedestrian planning is often an overlooked element of transportation planning. It is important to inform those involved in the planning and development of transportation projects of the importance in providing appropriate, pedestrian-scaled improvements in their communities. The County holds the safety and welfare of its residents to the highest standard and recognizes the many challenges facing our municipalities in improving their pedestrian networks. The County offers planning assistance that will bolster localized pedestrian planning efforts that provides a cohesive pedestrian network.

Create a Pedestrian Master Plan

Best suited for municipal or multi-municipal planning efforts, Pedestrian Master Plans document existing pedestrian facilities, identify pedestrian network deficiencies, and recommend solutions that improve walkability. Elements of these plans include, but are not limited to, planning for:
  • Safe Routes to School,
  • Wayfinding/streetscaping improvements,
  • access to public transit, and
  • ADA-accessibility
