GIS & Mapping
DCPD’s Geographic Information Systems
The Delaware County Planning Department’s GIS (Geographic Information System) functions are performed in this section. In conjunction with the County’s reassessment program, the Department acquired its own GIS equipment in 1997 and has been developing and acquiring layers of data relevant to the planning process.
The Department considers GIS mapping an important planning tool that is utilized in presentations, plans, and for analytical purposes by the Department’s staff on a daily basis. In addition, the section continually creates and maintains its own data using licensed ESRI software for dispersal to other planning agencies utilizing GIS and for public purchase. For a listing of digital data and prices, see the Digital Data Price List. In order to purchase data from DCPD, signed and dated GIS Data Disclaimers are required.
Additional information not created by DCPD is available on the Pennsylvania Spatial Data Access (PASDA) website or www.geography.com.
The County’s parcel layer is maintained by the County's Board of Assessment GIS Unit; all requests for this layer (from municipalities, consultants, and other agencies) should be made directly to the GIS Unit. Please contact Norma Cairo, GIS Manager, at 610-891-4793 or cairon@co.delaware.pa.us. The cost will depend on the density of the linework in the municipality, i.e. the number of megabytes per tile.
Consultants with whom DCPD has a contract are asked to make the request directly to Julie Del Muto, Manager of GIS Services for the Planning Department. (See contact information below.)
Mapping Costs
Fees for mapping services vary based on content and format requested. See Mapping and Pricing for details.
Map Gallery and Special Requests
The Map Gallery has been developed by the GIS section staff to assist planning professionals and other interested parties by providing single click access to a variety of frequently requested informational maps. The gallery will continually be expanded to include new or updated information as it becomes available.
In addition, online mapping of individual parcels is available on the County’s Public Access page.
If you have a special request, need more information concerning the source of GIS planning data for the County, or are a consultant under contract to the County, please contact Julie Del Muto, Manager of GIS Services for the Planning Department, at 610-891-4497 or delmutoj@co.delaware.pa.us.
