In 2005, the Census Bureau launched the American Community Survey to take the place of the long form in the decennial census. According to the Census Bureau, it is an on-going survey sent to a sample of the population to find out what the population looks like and how it lives. Not only is it to take the place of the long form, but it well help communities determine where to locate services and allocate resources every year instead of every ten years.
