Aerials
Aerials work hand-in-hand with maps and are another essential tool for planning and analysis. As a member government of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC), Delaware County Planning Department (DCPD) has participated in its aerial photography program for some time. Aerials can show the evolution of site conditions over time and look great in reports and presentations.

The Planning Department’s digital aerials date from 1960 to 2005 in five-year increments and cover the entire County. The 1960-2000 photos are black and white, while the 2005 aerials were produced in color. 2000-2005 are the only years geo-referenced for mapping software. The 1960-1995 aerials cover approximately three square miles and are at a scale of 1:400. The 2000 and 2005 aerials cover approximately 1.6 square miles and are at a scale of 1:200. DCPD acquired a computer with public access specifically for viewing the historical aerials. Users can now print customized areas at the following prices:
8.5" x 11" - $5.00
11" x 17" - $10.00
25" x 25" - $20.00
36" x 36" - $30.00
Historic aerial prints (1945 and 1953) of some sections of the County are available but are currently in hard copy format only.
Municipal governments may obtain the digital aerials of each year free of charge upon written request.
Please note that DCPD does not have mylars of the 2005 aerials nor will they for any future aerial sets, although it is retaining its library of the 1960 to 2000 mylars. There is a $5.00 fee for viewing the mylars.
If you have questions about DCPD’s aerials or want to make an appointment to view them, please call Daniel Seaton at 610-891-5211 or email seatond@co.delaware.pa.us.
