The County & Regional Planning section partners with Delaware County municipalities, other counties, and state and regional organizations to maintain the high quality of life experienced in Delaware County. These partnerships are fostered through increased communication, cooperation, and coordination. Some of the ongoing initiatives are outlined below.
Partnering with DVRPC to administer its Transportation and Community Development Initiative (TCDI) program within the County. The TCDI program is engineered to fund municipal activities that improve the development market for revitalization and enhance the efficiency of the regional transportation network. Staff coordinates County review of applications from Delaware County municipalities.
Participating in the statewide county planning director’s meetings. These biannual meetings provide County planning professionals from across the Commonwealth an opportunity to exchange planning techniques and experiences as well as learn about the State’s efforts to support local planning through new initiatives and programs.
Serving on DVRPC’s Land Use and Development Committee. The committee was established to provide input and guidance on DVRPC land use initiatives and to stay abreast of land use and development issues that affect the region.
Participating in the Eastern Delaware County Council of Governments (EDCCOG), comprising East Lansdowne, Lansdowne, Yeadon, Clifton Heights, Darby, and Millbourne Boroughs, Upper Darby Township, and state representatives. The communities that participate in the EDCCOG work together to address municipal management and community and economic development issues using a collaborative, regional approach.
