All cases should be called in to (610) 891-5953. If the call is not answered directly, please follow the recorded instructions. In the event that the reporting person is unable to elicit a response from the medical examiner's staff, contact the Communications Center at (610) 892-8400.
Cases are reported to the medical-legal investigator on duty, but if complex medical issues are involved, the medical examiner on call can be contacted directly for consultation. The reporting person should be familiar with the case and have the medical chart on hand if the death is in a medical institution. The reporting person will be informed whether the case is accepted by the medical examiner, and instructions will be given regarding disposition of the body, the effects and medical records of the decedent.
