Recognizing Older Americans in the Community

During the April 25 meeting Delaware County Council joined the County Office of Services for the Aging (COSA) in recognizing May as Older Americans Month, a month dedicated to celebrating the vitality and achievements of the county’s older residents. The 2018 theme, Engage at Every Age, encourages seniors to take part in activities that enrich their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Council encourages Delaware County seniors to attend one of several events hosted by Council and COSA:

  • The Senior Living Expo will be held on May 4 from 9am-noon at Harrah’s Philadelphia. Residents 50 and older can learn about the many County services available to them. Participants can dispose their unwanted, expired medications n the Delco Mobile Drug Drop Box.
  • The Centenarian Luncheon will be held on May 23 at noon at the Drexelbook. Council will recognize Delaware County residents who are 100 years or older.
  • The Delaware County Senior Games will be held June 11-22 at venues across the county. Seniors can compete in bowling, swimming, table tennis, golf, pickleball, bocce and more.
