Thornbury Township receives $65,000

towards Open Space preservation

At the Oct. 25 meeting, Council approved a $65,000 grant from the Marcellus Shale Legacy Funds to help fund Thornbury Township's purchase of 14.7 acres of open space to expand Martin Park located on Stoney Bank Road, in an effort to preserve the beauty and natural resources in the township. Over the past 20 years, Delaware County Council has organized many efforts to plan for and acquire open space. "County Council is thrilled to have worked with Thornbury Township to preserve this beautiful piece of land for our residents to enjoy," said Delaware County Council Vice Chair Colleen Morrone. "This serves as a model for future open space initiatives and we look forward to working together with other municipal leaders and conservation groups to preserve open space throughout our county."
