Dr. George K. Avetian, a family practice physician with nearly 30 years of experience in the Delaware County community, is the Senior Medical Advisor for County Council and the Department of Intercommunity Health.

The hiring of Dr. Avetian is part of a strategy developed in response to the Johns Hopkins Profile of Health and Public Health Service Delivery in Delaware County.

He is on staff at Delaware County Memorial Hospital and has his office on Market Street in the heart of the 69th Street community in Upper Darby. Dr. Avetian has been in family practice since 1983, treating a diverse group of patients who come from a variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. He has a strong sense of the various needs of individuals and family living in a diverse community.     

A 1976 graduate of Villanova University, he earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1980.

Dr. Avetian moved to Upper Darby in 1966. He and his wife, Veronica, now live in Radnor with their three children. He serves the community as a special deputy who works with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department on emergency preparedness and response. He also serves as vice-chairman for the Center for Resolution in Media, which provides mediation and conflict resolution for residents, particularly youth, and he is the chairman of the board of the Armenian Sisters Academy in Radnor.
