OPEN SPACE INITIATIVE The Delaware County Open Space Mapping Program, an initiative of County Council, was established in 2002 to assist municipalities in identifying valuable undeveloped parcels. A series of maps was produced to represent each municipality’s vision of a comprehensive open space network. Since 2002, the County has awarded over $1.7 million to municipalities for assistance in preservation of these identified open space and recreation tracts. County Council will continue to support the established goals of the Open Space Initiative by assisting municipalities actively preserving open space in the form of grants equaling up to 5% of the total property acquisition cost. The following 20 western Delaware County municipalities are eligible for application to the Open Space Fund:
Those interested in applying for acquisition funding must forward a 2008 Open Space Fund Application and relevant documentation to the Office of Housing and Community Development by October 15, 2008. A separate application must be completed for each subject property. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Jennifer Wesson at 610-891-5131 or wessonj@co.delaware.pa.us. 2008 Open Space Fund Application
