Jurors Guide
Following America's struggle for independence, the founding fathers realized the need to guard the citizens of our new nation against the abuses of power by the government. Accordingly, a system of checks and balances was introduced to prevent any arbitrary acts by any of the branches of government. Thus trial by jury was guaranteed so that all final decisions on disputes involving liberty or property rested with the citizens rather than with a government official. Juror's Information: The Delaware County Juror Donation Program allows Jurors the ability to donate their fees to three (3) specific charities: the Hero Scholarship Fund, Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County, and Children & Youth Services of Delaware County on a strictly volunteer basis. The program was highly successful in 2004 and is one of its kind in Pennsylvania. The program's mission is to provide assistance to Delaware County's most precious resource, its children. In excess of $100,000.00 has been raised since the program's inception. For official word of court closings or special announcements call 610-891-4067
