Criminal Justice Delaware County
|
JUDICIAL RETENTIONThe voters of Delaware County elect Judges to a ten-year term. Following the expiration of that term, those Judges run in a Judicial Retention Election. During a Judicial Retention, the electors cast a “yes” or “no” vote on the retention of the Judge for another ten-year term. The Judge who was previously elected neither runs against an opponent nor stands for election as a candidate of any political party. This means the election is based primarily upon how the citizen of the community views the past performance of the Judge on the Bench. Edward J. Zetusky, Jr. was retained by the voters of Delaware County in the November, 2005 election to his second ten-year term. Judges James F. Proud, George A. Pagano, and Ann A. Osborne were retained by the voters in the 2007 election and began serving their second ten-year terms in 2008. Judge Charles B. Burr, II will be running for retention in 2009.
