Leaf Composting

Most communities participate in the Delaware County Compost Program. All forty-nine municipalities are encouraged to bring their Fall leaves to the County's Compost Farm. The leaves are placed in windrows where they are monitored, turned, shredded, and left to compost. By late spring, this compost is made available to the public, free of charge, to be used as a soil additive or mulch.

Compost may be picked up at the Marple Transfer Station, located at Marpit Drive and Sussex Boulevard in Broomall are available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on weekends from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. As stated above, this compost is free to all residents. Businesses will, of course, be turned away.

If you are interested in creating a backyard compost bin you may obtain additional information by accessing http://www.biocycle.net.
