| About Solid Waste | Household Hazardous Waste | Recycling | The Delaware County Solid Waste Authority is committed to excellence. Our goal is to provide the county with an outstanding, but necessary service while preserving the environment and natural resources of the future. The county's trash is recycled into energy (electricity) through a combustion process producing a byproduct (ash) that makes an outstanding cover for the county landfill. Click on our History tab for more information about us. Our motto, reduce, reuse, and recycle is evidenced by the various programs we provide. A successful curbside recycling program is run by the individual municipalities. Glass and aluminum is collected in igloo containers throughout the county. * Glass and aluminum is collected in igloo containers throught the county at 46 locations; collecting over 50 tons per month. Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collections are held annually; through a collective effort with Bucks, Chester, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties to collect and dispose of harmful chemicals accumulated in the home and televisions and computers.* The Delaware County Solid Waste Authority also manages the operation of a leaf composting farm located on the grounds of Transfer Station #1, Chester Township.
