1998 ~ The Delaware County Solid Waste Authority (DCSWA) was honored by the Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) with a Recycling Recognition Award for Leadership in Municipal Recycling and the County’s Igloo Recycling Program which gave all county residents an opportunity to recycle.  At that time, few municipalities offered curbside recycling.

1999 ~ The Delaware County Solid Waste Authority (DCSWA) received the Solid Waste Association of North American (SWANA) Landfill Excellence Silver Award in recognition of Rolling Hills Landfill outstanding performance in operation, design, efficiency, and an overall integrated solid waste management system.

1999 ~ PA Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence was presented to the County of Delaware and DCSWA for its outstanding achievements in the area of hazardous waste collection and recycling.

2000 ~ The prestigious PA Governor’s Award for Safety and Excellence which was presented to the Rolling Hills Landfill.

2004 ~ PA Waste Watcher Award for our Pilot Cell Phone Recycling Program.  At the time, we were the only county in the state to tackle recycling outdated cell phones with the best being reprogrammed to dial only 911 and given to our D.A. for use in his Domestic Abuse Program.  The remaining phones were dismantled and recycled.

2007 ~ PA Waste Watcher Award was presented to DCSWA for their Recycling, Waste Reduction and Reuse Programs.  Our Cell Phone Recycling Program was expanded to include recycling at several municipal buildings and all libraries in the county.  Additionally, an Inkjet and Toner Cartridge Program was initiated in all county departments and buildings.

2007 ~ PA Waste Watcher Award was presented to DCSWA for Delaware County’s part in the successful Southeastern Regional Household Hazardous Waste Program.  This cooperative effort from the City of Philadelphia, Delaware, Chester, Bucks and Montgomery Counties removed more than 2 million pounds of hazardous waste from the environment.  The program also stresses an emphasis on recycling as much of the material as possible.

2008 ~ PA Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence was presented to DCSWA in recognition of their participation in the Southeastern Regional Household Hazardous Waste Program.  This ongoing cooperative effort accepted over 2.5 million pounds of hazardous waste.

2009 ~ PA Waste Watcher Award was presented to DCSWA for Recycling, Waste Reduction and Reuse Programs.

2011 ~ North American Hazardous Materials Management Association presented the PA Southeastern Regional Counties with their Longstanding Program Excellence Award.  The Counties were chosen from among the fifty states as well as Canada and Mexico to receive this award for our ongoing commitment and dedication to pollution prevention.  The association also acknowledged that in 2010, the five counties scheduled 30 events where 30,000 residents brought over 3 million pounds of hazardous waste to a collection event for proper disposal.
